Party Wid Ze Germanz

It seems that it’s restaurant week every other week in the DMV area, so it comes as no surprise that there’s such a thing as the DC WINTER Restaurant Week, featuring all the usual suspects: Bistro d’OC, the Bombay Club and Dante. Lunch goes for $20.09 and dinner, $35.09. Until Feb. 22. [Washington]

  • Wednesday, Feb. 18: In celebration of Martin’s Tavern’s 75th anniversary, the restaurant’s entire menu is 25% off. The food isn’t that pricey to begin with, so that’s even better. Cocktails are $7.50 all night. [Martin's Tavern]
  • Friday, Feb. 20: Eat beef stroganoff and dance to German techno in a mask at the Embassy of Germany’s Black Tie Karneval Celebration. Tickets are $109, and the event starts at 8PM. [Things to Do]
  • Tuesday, Feb. 24: Rumors in Georgetown is throwing a Bourbon Street Bash for Mardi Gras. Unlike the Embassy of Germany’s event, tickets are only $5 AND there’s a Cajun wings-eating contest, $1 beer, a funk band, souvenir cups and a WAY better chance to see some boobies. [WaPo]
  • Weekly:

  • Every Tuesday is Taco Tuesday at Tonic. For 50 cents, you get a plain ground beef taco (with a maximum of six tacos, so don’t even think about it), and for $4, a glass of Sam Adams draft beer. [Tonic]
  • Duffy’s Irish Pub sells beer for a buck every Monday night, including PBR, Miller High Life and Schlitz, of course. [Duffy's Irish Pub]

The picture is from one of the many Fasching (Carnival) parades held throughout the Rhein region of Germany at this time of year (prolly Cologne). Many of the parade floats have a political theme and one staple is “Uncle Sam” pooping some politician or policy out his a$$. This one looks like Hillary to me, from last year, I imagine. Props to the Krauts for not grunting out Hopey.
